On Swar Setu, I present select compositions of modern Hindi poets, set to Hindustani classical ragas — an offering where swar meets shabd, and rasa of modern Hindi poetry unfolds through melody.

Dr Priti Prakash Prajapati has, for several years, combined her training and passion for Hindustani music and Hindi literature to offer musical compositions of poems written by eminent Hindi poets. In doing so, she seeks to fulfil her dream of communicating and popularizing Hindi poetry through music. She hopes that her musical rendition of modern Hindi poetry will reach out to the social consciousness of people, as did Urdu poetry and Rabindra Sangeet.
दलित जन पर करो करुणा (1939)

यह कविता परम्परागत भक्ति भाव से भिन्न आधुनिक मानवीय संवेदना को व्यक्त करती है। इसमें कवि ईश्वर से दीन-हीन जनों में शक्ति संचार की कामना करते हुए अपने व्यक्तित्व में दृढ़ता, स्वाभिमान और मानसिक स्थिरता बनाए रखने के लिए प्रार्थना करते हैं।
Dalit Jan Par Karo Karuna (1939)

Marking a departure from traditional devotional worship, this poem invokes human concerns -- sympathy and compassion towards downtrodden. The poet prays to the almighty for fortitude for the distressed while seeking poise, strength of character and confidence for himself.
बाँधो न नाव इस ठाँव, बंधु! (1956)
— सूर्यकांत त्रिपाठी 'निराला'
राग खमाज पर आधारित
मल्लाह को संबोधित इस प्रेम गीत में कवि उससे इस घाट पर अपनी नाव न बांधने का अनुरोध करता हैं। कवि को लगता है कि गांव वाले उससे, उसके उस पूर्व प्रेम प्रसंग की चर्चा करेंगे जो भले ही आंखों ही आंखों में घटित हुआ था पर उसकी मधुर स्मृति आज भी उसकी भावनाओं को तरल कर देती है। प्रीति कई वर्षों से हिंदी के आधुनिक कवियों की रचनाओं को संगीतबद्ध कर उनकी प्रस्तुति को नया आयाम देने का प्रयास कर रही हैं। उनका स्वप्न है कि रवीन्द्र संगीत और उर्दू शायरी के समान हिंदी की श्रेष्ठ रचनाएं भी संगीत के माध्यम से अधिकाधिक लोगों तक पहुंचे।
Baandhon Na Naav Is Thaon, Bandhu! (1956)

In this romantic poem, Nirala requests the boatman to not park the boat on a bank. The poet feels that villagers would notice and talk about his former love affair in their conversations. An affair, experienced only through eyes and the sweet memory of which still melts the poet’s heart.
